How to Perform a Translation Call

If the client requires a translator on 988, follow these steps:

  1. Tell the client you are getting a translator, and ask them to hold for a few minutes.

  2. You will see a button that says “Conference” on the left hand side of your screen. Click this button. It will automatically put the caller on hold.

  3. A box will pop up that will ask you to type in a phone number. You will type the number of the translation service (1-866-874-3972) {Don’t type the dashes} and click “Initiate Conference”. Your phone will ring. Be sure to answer it because this will start the call to the translation service.

  4. When prompted, enter the CLIENT ID #: 862080

  5. Choose which language is needed.

  6. When prompted, enter the Crisis Line ID: 222

  7. Once the interpreter joins the line, click the blue “Add Participant” button on the middle left side of the screen.

If the client requires a translator on ANY OTHER HOTLINE, follow these steps:

  1. Tell the client you are getting a translator, and ask them to hold for a few minutes.

  2. You will see a button that says “Conference” on the left hand side of your screen. Click this button. It will automatically put the caller on hold.

  3. A box will pop up that will ask you to type in a phone number. You will type the number of the translation service: 1-800-225-5254 (don’t include the dashes) and click “Initiate Conference”. Your phone will ring. Be sure to answer it because this will start the call to the translation service.

  4. When asked, tell the operator our CUSTOMER CODE: 32026

  5. Tell the operator which language is needed.

  6. Once the interpreter joins the line, click the blue “Add Participant” button on the middle left side of the screen.
